Hello!

Welcome to my blog! I am a Puerto Rican and Dominican Latina from the Bronx, New York.  I document the aspects of my life that irradiate me, that give me light and happiness. You will see this in the form of life, travel, fashion and inspiration. Enjoy!

To whoever is reading this right now, thank you so much for joining me on this very exciting, ineffable, journey. It took a lot of cojones for me to get here.

Writing has always been my passion, my therapy, my joy. Since I wrote my first sentence I remember creating stories, designing book covers and raiding the house for glue to glue the pages of my self-made book together.

I've been dreaming of this moment for years. But there were many things, scary things I might add, that continuously kept me from just going for it. It's kind of like speaking in front of a large group of people when you fear public speaking (which I do... it's an area of growth). There's really no difference between that feeling of being unable to get the first word out and publicizing a blog. Honestly. Creating a blog has made me feel that vulnerable and magical all at once. There is especially something nerve wracking about putting yourself out there when there are already many great bloggers in the world; I mean, it's just like that hopeless feeling you get when you try to get that special person to notice you when there are already so many other cool people out there.

Earlier this year, a friend of mine on Facebook published her own blog leavealittlesparkle.org. It is beautiful so check it out when you get the chance! Of course, when I saw this blog I started following it, and each time she made a post I felt myself getting closer and closer to finally taking my thoughts and turning them into actions. Of course I had to reach out to her. To give you some background on how she and I met, we were summer interns at Penguin Publishing in 2013. And let me tell you, I knew she was going to do great things in the fashion world from the moment I met her. Her style was incomparable and her personality was nothing short of lovely. We were in college at the time, however, thanks to Facebook we were able to keep in touch.

She pretty much said, "Just do it already!" Not verbatim, she was actually a lot warmer than that, but that was what I took away from the chat we had after I reached out. That was exactly what I needed to hear. It was inspirational to see that someone who looks like me, within my network of friends, could be confident enough to put herself out there.

And so here I am. Putting myself out there and doing the thing that I love most. Writing. Irradiate Me is about overcoming scary and negative experiences and immersing myself in the beautiful pleasures of life. It's about being inspired to do what I've always wanted to do no matter what boundaries are in place. I hope that as I indulge in the things that irradiate me, and as you continue to visit my little corner of the internet, you too, will leave feeling irradiated.
