You soften me up
With your existence,
Butter me up
With your eyes,
Destroy my walls
With your smile.
Welcome to my blog! I am a Puerto Rican and Dominican Latina from the Bronx, New York. I document the aspects of my life that irradiate me, that give me light and happiness. You will see this in the form of life, travel, fashion and inspiration. Enjoy!
You soften me up
With your existence,
Butter me up
With your eyes,
Destroy my walls
With your smile.
When my friend Cindy invited me to Cuba with her, I couldn’t resist. If you know me, you know Cuba is like home. When she told me she would gather donations before her visit to Cuba, I was excited to participate and provide some of my friends and their friends with items that were inaccessible to them due to inflation in Cuba and/or the U.S. embargo.
Thank you for the dances, Mami. Who knew in my 20s I would love salsa so much. Thank you for you heart. So deep, so vast, so pure, so strong. Thank you for always being there, and for always loving me, in your own way. I will always be your wicked witch of the east. You will always be my woman, my mamita, tan linda.

2022 was a sea of deception and disillusionment. It was constant. A current that my powers couldn’t prevent, that is, until they could. In this life, on our collective journey, all I want to reach is what ultimately we all desire: happiness. There are moments that reveal to us these possibilities, and we become enveloped in them (or if you’re a scorpio, obsessive), praying that that moment, or that person, is the answer to all of our wishes.
I recently graded my 8th graders' argument essays. One student wrote about reading or lexile levels and how they do not determine intelligence. I was undoubtedly impressed with this essay, and as you can probably imagine, I was writing "yaass" all over…
What a better time to write than when you're experiencing a lot of change in your life? Doesn't matter how big or how small the change is, or how positive or how negative. Since I was a little girl I always liked to document my changes--whether it was a new school, a new crush (and I had many!), new bochinche (gossip) going on in school, I liked to transfer my thoughts onto paper…
This year I finally understood the impact of seeing someone from my home make it big. My home, if you didn't know, is the Bronx, popularly known as The Boogie Down...
Being in your early twenties means exploration, growth, making decisions, AND adding on to your list of "firsts." (you know that list right? First graduation, first piercing, first kiss...)...
I've received many messages about my travels to Cuba. I've been to Cuba about 4 times already, so let me share with you a bit of what I learned...
I'm still on this rollercoaster that only goes up; I feel this way, happy, despite the fright I experienced this summer (I'll get into that later). As summer 2017 comes to an end, and I reflect on the season and the year so far (because when am I not reflecting?)...
I slipped on this dress, a gift from my little sister, and it fit my body the way the perfect necklace softly hangs around your neck--gentle, light, and beautiful. But there was one apprehension...one qualm, if you will...
From the moment we begin school, when we're 3, 4 or 5, we are taught and expected to get a job and earn money in order to some day own assets and support ourselves and our families. Unfortunately, the things we are truly passionate about...
I've been dying to make this post for the past few weeks! In my last post, I mentioned needing to live a more sustainable lifestyle. If you were wondering what I meant, I meant being able to do...
It's been about a month since I last posted! My goal is to post at least once a month, that is, until I live a more sustainable lifestyle and can dedicate my free time to writing (I'll say a little more about that in my next post, stay tuned!)...
What do you know, I am still reflecting on 2016. You know how we call someone who is aware and understanding of what is going on in the world (specifically with issues related to social justice and race) "woke"? 2016 is the year I woke up from a deep sleep...
The final bell rung, and I was out of the building faster than you could say, "It's winter break!" I got home, did some last minute packing, and by 8:00 pm my sister and her boyfriend were driving me to JFK...
A few days ago, I was walking through SoHo and came across a coffee shop with a window that said, "To Live For." As I was walking I kept repeating this phrase to myself, "To Live For." You don't really hear that too often, do you?...
To whoever is reading this right now, thank you so much for joining me on this very exciting, ineffable, journey. It took a lot of cojones for me to get here. Writing has always been my passion, my therapy, my joy...
